FAQ for Parents
Who decides where my child will sleep and which trail group they will be in?
The school decides based on a roster template we give them. They fill out the roster template based on their own system for sorting the students.
What time is lights out?
10 PM to 7 AM.
Who do I talk to about special concerns regarding my child?
You would call our camp at (714) 923-3191 and you would ask for the Academic Program Director or Camp RN. They are there to facilitate your child’s experience at our facility and will do whatever they can to accommodate them.
What should my child bring or not bring to OSS?
Your student will be given a list of what to bring by the teachers, but focus on what not to bring. Electronics are not allowed as we are trying to give an outdoor experience closer to nature. A water bottle and string synch bag will be given to all students, but they may bring their own back pack and water bottle if desired.
Who will be supervising my child during their stay?
Our amazing naturalists! Each trail group will have the same leader throughout the week and the same cabin leaders. This is intended to give them complete supervision throughout their stay as well as consistency. The only time my staff will not be supervising them in when students use the bathroom or shower, but they will be close by if assistance is needed.
Are the staff background checked?
Yes, all of our staff are background checked through the Boy Scouts of America.
